Target

The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This is a target, not a formal conformance claim.

How it is built

  • Semantic HTML with landmarks, a skip link and a logical heading order on every page.
  • Full keyboard operation with a visible focus indicator. The mobile menu works without JavaScript.
  • Text and interface colors chosen for at least AA contrast against their backgrounds.
  • Publication states are conveyed in text, not by color or shape alone.
  • The animated star field on the home page is decorative, hidden from assistive technology, and replaced by a still image when reduced motion is requested or WebGL is unavailable.
  • Research filtering is an enhancement: every entry is listed and reachable without JavaScript.

How it is checked

Each release runs automated accessibility checks (axe-core) and keyboard navigation checks on representative pages at mobile, tablet and desktop widths, followed by visual review. Automated checks find only some problems, so reports from people using the site are especially valuable.
